Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Breast Lift Candidates
The Procedure
Dr. Johnson tailors each breast lift he performs to the specific needs of his patients. If only a minimal amount of lifting is required, he can use incisions primarily located around the areola (the dark skin around the nipple). For more extensive lifting, the incision may run from the areola down to the base of the breast and even trace the crease where the breast meets the chest wall (the inframammary fold). Through the incisions, Dr. Johnson is able to remove excess skin and breast tissue before repositioning the nipple and areola higher on the breast. In most cases, Dr. Johnson performs breast lifts for women using general anesthesia, meaning you will sleep comfortably through the procedure.
While most women who choose breast lift surgery will have some degree of visible scarring, these scars are seen as an acceptable trade off for firmer and more youthful looking breasts. In addition, scars are well concealed in a bra or bathing suit, and should continue to lighten during the years after the procedure.
